How to Fakie Big Heel flip

Quick steps: How to Fakie big heel flip

  1. Roll fakie at a comfortable speed.
  2. Make sure you cup inside curve of the concave on the tail with your POP foot.
  3. Place your front foot a little further back than you would for a normal heel flip and hang your toes off just a little.
  4. WInd up your shoulder in back-side direction as you bend your knees.
  5. Start to launch upward while unwinding your shoulders in the front-side direction, and pop downward and outward.
  6. Halfway through the rotation, slightly flick your foot to flip the board.
  7. Roll away and cry tears of joy if no one is watching. If someone is watching just be cool...be cool.

What is a Fakie Big Heel Flip?

Fakie Big-spin Heel flip

A fakie big heel, is a combination of a fakie front-side bigspin, and a heel flip.

The long name is Fakie Big-spin Heel flip, and the shorter, sweeter name, is Fakie Big Heel.

This trick is probably one of the most visually attractive flip tricks in the entire book of skateboarding. A guaranteed clapper trick.

Step 1

Get rolling at a moderate yet comfortable speed. Don't roll super slowly.

As you begin to bend down wind your shoulder a bit in the backside direction.

It's crucial (AT THIS POINT) that you don't lean off of your center. If you lean out, even a little bit, then you are just throwing the trick. And this tip is pretty common for most tricks that involve a body varial or spin.

Step 2

Start unwinding your shoulders as you pop the board outward and downward, the same way you would pop for a fakie front-side big spin.

As your creeping into your rotation you want to start to flick your kick foot outward to activate heel flip mode.

You are generally already close to 90° into your front-side rotation before you get your flick in.

Step 3

Lastly just work on your timing. Keep a good hang time for your feet as you watch the skateboard rotate beneath you.

This trick will take some practice. But once you get your muscle memory dialed in, you will have gained another solid and consistent flip trick
